Find Your Authentic Reason On How You Bring In The Business, what digital business strategy are you using. For so many years I struggled with a service point.
What I mean by this is that when first started my web design business I just served people with their requirements. I found out what they wanted in terms of a website and then built it for them. And this was the basis of my transactions and growth. Plain and simple. The reason its been around for over 14 years is that we provided a service which solved a problem
But at the time I did not know the art and science behind this. I thought it was just something you do.
Only later when I started exploring other ventures and trying to make money in those, where some brought in the money and some did not I started to wonder why? This I suppose was the entrepreneurial waking point. So many things in life we do just because we do them and then we have the realisation of why we do them, or how it really works?
So I started to wonder what I was really doing to make something work?
The next thing I looked into was then seeing what my customers were up to. Which of them were succeeding and which were not and then really looking into why and how it was working vs the ones that were not.
This was a real eye-opener, a real truth about the focus and concentration of energy on one specific activity. When you have your hands in many pies it’s really hard to enjoy the experience and focus. The energy gets distributed amongst the different activities and hence to some degree becomes diluted. It’s like having your feet in 2 different places and doing the splits, it’s uncomfortable. Only when you have one thing working and generating you the income then it’s wise to explore other ventures so you can allocate your focus. Doing too many things at once will tier you out.
So watching the clients and seeing the ones who committed 100% to the main point of their business were the ones that were succeeding, the others… well… were chugging along.
This was interesting to see as it got me thinking about what it was that I was REALLY doing that was bringing in the money. Everything else was just a distraction (but things that would also help) and the key focus was the main thing bringing in the bucks.
I started to break down my activities from the moment I met my customers to getting the project and delivering it. I started to note down everything I was doing from conversations to spec creation to closing the deal as they say. I started to monitor my interaction.
I realised that the bulk of it was actually the relationship that was being created. But more so listening to the requirement and then relaying back my understanding and exploring and educating potential clients on how this works and why. I was just open with them breaking down the process, explaining everything we do, and helping them understand. When they use to leave the meeting or conversation they knew more about websites and how they can benefit their business if used properly. So they got a lot of value upfront. It was the rapport and relationship element of it that use to help sell the service. But more so the education and honest feedback and working more on the connection than the project. But when they understood that I get them and that I understand their problem and show them that we can provide a solution then the selling was already done. All we now had to do was deliver.
Because I had not found my authentic zone of service, the other things I tried did not work great. It’s only when I started the things that fit my mindset, my character, my way of thinking really allowed me to serve the people I serve but by being a problem solver and then helping the client solve that problem. We adapted that mindset that we are like your in-house virtual web services team and that we work together (not for you) but together. So I treated every project like it was my own business. Then happy customers did the selling for us with referrals because we had built up the trust and loyalty so they knew they had the support when they needed it.
It’s all about being present and creating authentic connections and coming from a place of service rather than closing the deal that helps build long-term relationships and ultimately gets you the business.
- Really listen to what potential clients are telling you
- Relay back to them that you understand them and get their situation
- Share experience and knowledge to help educate them so they understand the process or solution.
- Show them how it works
- Show them why it works
- Come from a place of service rather than thinking about getting their money.
- Show them you care
- Be present and come from an authentic place.
- If you don’t know something then you don’t know so let them know you need to check a few things out and get back to them before you can answer their questions
- Make sure ALL their questions and concern are addressed
- Let them make the end decision
And if they are a good fit then you can naturally work together.
So do your best to come from a genuine and authentic place of service.
And if you have any questions feel free to get in touch and all the best.

If you choose to pay peanuts for services you will probably get peanuts back.
It’s wired how we try to cut corners, look for the cheapest deal, pay the least and then expect others to pay premium prices for our own services.
Its doest make sense. Theres a mismatch in your thinking, its the wrong message you are sending out into the universe.
If you are willing to invest in your self by actually honouring others and learning from them and buying their products and services then the universe will reward you in the same way where others will be willing to invest and buy from you too. (Of course do your due diligence before you buy)
You’ve heard the biblical statement – “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” with similar statements in many other faiths too.
Basically it’s the law resonance. Like all other Universal Laws, once understood, will provide you with a greatly enhanced ability to begin “consciously”, intentionally and consistently attracting and experiencing more of the desired outcomes that you desire to experience and envision for yourself. But Bear in mind it works in both directions. Be willing to invest in your own growth both in business and personal development.
In order to really be able to help others in a matter of quality and results its best to work with people who can add value with experience and knowledge. But this may come at a premium.
However it will get you the results instead of jumping around from one person to another, from one shiny object to another, from one software or systems to another and hence saving you time in the process (We can not buy back time thats already gone, but you can create more time by using it efficiently)
In simple terms you are not investing in the right things at the right time in the right order hence don’t get the results you want but instead keep your self busy being busy.
Working on isolated business elements without actually looking at the whole ecosphere and a overall system will overwhelm you, confuse you and take you in many different directions and dispurse your energy.
In the digital age, there is a lot of noise due to the many platforms, software, applications and experts out there all competing for your attention. We all do it. But the time spent in researching, for example, will save you time in implementation.
But if you know what to do, when to do it, in the correct way at the correct time and order it will create economy of motion by getting you form A to B in the fastest most efficient way.
In nlp there is a term called modelling. Basically if you want to achieve something in life find people who have already done it and them model them. This is where coaches and mentors can be of assistance.
